Progressive Update--03/18/2006

Katrine Hutchison—You know how sometimes karma bites you in the posterior? Well last year there was an opening on the Christina School Board. I have a good friend (her husband was my best man twenty years ago), Kat Hutchison, who lives in the sub-district with the opening, so I suggested that she throw her hat in the ring. Well, she was elected by the school board, and has been working her tail off ever since, including searching for the new superintendent (and voting against the recent poorly planned referendum). She is up for re-election this May 9th, and I “volunteered” to be treasurer for her campaign.

If you have questions for her, email her at hutch60hook@comcast.net. If you would like to contribute for her campaign (we need to raise money for signs and brochures), mail checks made out to Committee to Reelect Katrine Hutchison to me at Paul Baumbach, 273 E Main St, Suite E, Newark, DE 19711-7331.

Anyone in the Christina School District can (and should) vote on May 9th. We appreciate your support!

Delaware Democrats—To keep up on news with the Delaware Democratic Party, including how they plan to gain six House seats (and the majority) in this November’s election, go to www.deldems.org regularly.

Terry Schooley is the DE State Representative from the 23rd Representative District (on whose committee I serve). She is up for re-election this fall. If you would like to know more about her views, and opportunities to help her campaign, contact Mary Herr at mherr@udel.edu.

The Nth annual 23rd RD Democratic Spaghetti Dinner and Auction is THIS FRIDAY, the 24th from 6-9pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Newark (www.uufn.org). Please see me for $10 tickets. Chris Coons will again be emcee’ing the auction. Having seen him emcee several of these, I consider his auctioneering to be on par with Robin Williams stand-up. Come join the fun and help raise money for the Democratic Party in Delaware in 2006!
